We are visiting Monterey at the end of September. Is it still worth doing the Whale/Dolphin Watching Trips?

Thanks

Any whale sighting is great. It is a chance type of spotting but for the Monterey area the feeding for whales is very good in September. The popular California grey whale is only in the waters off California usually from Dec. to April, but there are at least 4 or five other whale species and many dolphin and porpoises from April through November. Remember, nearby is the 17 mile drive ocean tour in Carmel and the coastline in Pacific Grove for sea otters. Both Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pacific Grove have interesting natural sights, museums/mission, shopping and wonderful dining. Carmel Valley has some very good wineries all within a short drive from Monterey.

We took a whale watching trip in June in Monterey Bay with Monterey Bay Whale Watch (http://www.montereybaywhalewatch.com/sumfall.htm). It was a great trip and we saw Orcas, grey whales, a blue whale and a variety of dolphins. A Marine Biologists accompanies every group and provides a great deal of information about the animal that you are viewing. They have information about their fall trips and what you should expect to see on their website. I hope you love Monterey as much as we do!
