Is there things you absolutely do not do,wear or say in Sudan. I have a collage project in my global cultures class. I need to find out if there are any things which are concidered taboo in the Sudan region. Any help would be greatly appriciated!
Thanks,

sudan is realy biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig. and very diverted. so it is not easy to speak about general taboos in the country. in the north, arround khartoum, people are following arab livestyle, that means no alcohol, not show the backside of your feet etc...
in the south it is much more black africa livestyle, witch doctors, black magic etc.

south sudan? witchdoctors, black magic....excuse me! if anything, the north of sudan is the most taboo ridden part of the globe. remember its got no nightlife coz girls ain't allowed out in the dark or even share company with a brother or relative. dress in some verrrry long dresses, men don't wear shorts even in the extremly hot weather and things like that.

In Khartoum where I am, Islamic law is practised and therefore you can expect the same taboos as some Islamic countries e.g no alcohol, no holding hands between men & women, no indecent dressing. I've even heard about no dating between men & women too! However, Khartoum is getting more modern now and I can find couples holding hands and dressed in western style clothes.
As for me, I'm always in T-shirts & Jeans on the weekends and have never been harrassed by the people.
