| Positano | Getting Around in Positano Posted: Mon July 10, 2006 05:36 PM UTC
I am going to Positano in August and will be 5 months pregnant. I booked this trip before knowing I would be, and as I read about Positano it appears that there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to places. This will be difficult for me. Are there taxis or buses that can take you around the city as well to avoid harse climbs?

There is no public transportation between the main road and the beach. Walking is necessary. That said, most of the walking is on sloped sidewalks on the eastern half of the village with only a few sets of stairs of no more than 8-10 steps. Going up the western side of the village requires considerably more stairs. The busses and taxis are confined to the two main east-west roads with a major bus stop on the eastern side. Ravello has a staircase from the parking area up to the main square. From there on most of the attractions can be visited without steps. Similarly, Amalfi has a steep staircase in front of the cathedral but otherwise is without too many steps.
