Hi,
I'm hoping to stay in the area for a week. I'm looking for somewhere that's not too quiet - ie has a few bars/restaurants as well as a nightclub perhaps. I don't drive. I'm also thinking of camping as I'm quite poor. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks |

Lake Como is beautiful but not long on nightlife. Your best bets may be the city of como and the waterfront in cernobbio, but frankly this is a quiet resort area in our experience. Places to visit - a day trip to Lugano is nice. Bellagio and Cernobbio are delightful as is Varenna all accessible by assorted ferries and hydrofoils. In bellagio, there are several pretty villas includiing the Melfi and serbelloni. The most spectacular of the villas is villa carlotta in tremezzo. Milan is an hour away by train - plenty of bars in Milan.

The only decent campsites we came across were on the northern part of the lake.
Domaso and Gravedono. www.campingdeserto.com www.domaso.it www.gravedona.it We didn't stay at them as they were too far for us, we had a car but decided to stay at Menaggio and across the lake at Bellagio where you can find cheaper accommodation if you ask around. Go for it !!
