I'm hoping to find information about high schools in Asti, Italy. My daughter, Megan High, has planned for a year to be a foreign exchange student in Italy. We chose the program, Two Worlds United, and they have been keeping us updated since February about the long process of finding a host family, visa, etc.. All of her information should have been completed by June 1, 2006.
We just found out that she will be living in Asti, Italy, but when I ask for phone numbers for the school and host family, I'm told that they don't have that information. This is starting to look like a scam and I just need a phone number for the high schools in Asti, Italy. Now that there is doubt in my mind about this company, if they do actually pull this off and Megan does get to spend her senior year of high school in Asti, I will have to travel there when she goes, just to make sure she does have a family to live with and that she is alright. I'll need a place to stay for a week that is reasonably priced. They haven't even applied for her visa but keep saying that everything is alright. I've learned that they have an F rating with the Better Bussiness Bureau, so it just doesn't look promising. I've paid the money and if they actually do come through, I'll be flying with her to make sure she is safe. Any ideas on who I could contact to see if Two Worlds United has even attempted to get Megan enrolled in a high school in Asti, Italy would very much be appreciated. Sincerely, Beverly High Jackson 2014 Crown Pointe Blvd |

I don't know if the following will be of any use but it's worth a try
www.zerodelta.net/study-public_secondary_schools.p /study-private_secondary_schools /study-private_high_schools /study-public_high_schools for each of the other three sites, preface with the www.etc. and after "schools" copy what is in the address for the first site. These give addresses at least and I am sure you can find the phone numbers through international directory inquiries. It seems that there is a difference between high schools and secondary schools. Hope this is of help. Good luck!

You can also try this link which has listing of schools in Piedmonte.
http://www.siscas.net/dirregeng/index.html Asti is a very nice little city. You need to find out where in Asti she will be. My sister lives in the old section of town.

Beverly, Check this web site. http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/advice/t-19896.html
This is a discussion by many people who have been scammed by this company. You may get some advice as to what to do next. Check the web site and contact the people who have been fighting this. Be sure to notify your Attorney General as suggested. In the meantime, you might contact American Field Service and see if there is still time to get your daughter an overseas placement with them. They are a reputable company. They are not completely without problems, but when you deal with that many people in that many countries, you will have the occasional problem. They are more cultural misunderstandings than contact and money problems. So sorry you had this trouble. Next time, do a simply Google search on the company and see what others have to say about it. It isn't foolproof but it sometimes helps.

Beverly,
check the following lists of high schools in Asti. Documents are in Italian language, note that "paritarie" - shorter list - means something like "private and approved". I believe the program, if ever, would be placed through a private structure. The other document lists public schools. http://www.provincia.asti.it/doc/5/elenco_scuole_s http://www.provincia.asti.it/doc/5/elenco_scuole_s Should you consider a different option for High School, still in Italy, check the American International School of Torino. Just 30 miles northwest of Asti. I have friends who are teachers at this school and it's definitely not a scam. Any help in Torino needed, just let me know. http://www.acat-ist.it Ant

My daughter is scheduled to go with this program in a few days. I was beginning to get worried when I was not getting information about her host family from them. Right now I am trying to get through to a lawyer who is listed as their attorney (this came from the threads to the myexperiencewithtwoworldsunited.com).
I hate to accuse them of anything when I really don't have valid information, but my concern is growing. Were you ever able to resolve your daughter's arrangements and is she still going on the exchange? Thank you for any information (positive or negative) that you can offer. Sincerely, Dana Griffin
