We're going to the Riverina Hotel in Beruwela in 10 days time can anyone let me know what the weather is like there currently. Also as we're making our own way there from the airport what is the best way to do this.

Last thing any useful tips whilst we're staying there.

Hi there,

They have had a few cloudy days recently, but for the last 5-6 days all mornings and even most afternoons were sunny. Monsoon showers withdrew to the evenings/nights, where they belong.

There is a taxi desk next to the banks in the Arrivals hall (badly indicated, mainly in Sinhala). They arrange the fixed price and a runner then brings you to the driver. Going price for a single trip is around Rs 50-55 per km and some surcharge for passing Colombo traffic jams, so to Beruwela (85 km from airport) that would be around Rs 5000.

Have a nice holiday,

<Erik> & [Sandya]

Stayed at the Riverina in early June. It's a good hotel, staff are friendly and there is quite a bit to do there.
The dinner area can get quite busy so i would recommend getting there early if you can. There is also a 'coffee shop' near the reception area which does good food and when we were there was quiet.
I would recommend a trip to the Turtle hacthery in Kosgoda - it is a great place to visit. Also, would recommend a boat trip along the Bentota river - you should be able to organise this through the hotel. Try a meal out at the Goldne Grill, a shot ride in a Tuk Tuk, food and service is good there.
Hope you have a good time!
