| Victoria | Getting from Ferry to Butchart Gardens Posted: Sun July 9, 2006 02:25 AM UTC
What are the transportation options to and from Butchart Gardens from the Victoria Clipper dock? How much time is "enough" to enjoy the Gardens?

If you visit www.butchartgardens.com you will find a page about planning your visit with a link to how to get there from Anacortes, Port Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria. The site says Butchart is 14 miles north of the city of Victoria. I think you might need a few hours to get around the garden.

The Clipper itself offers package tours. You can do a tour of Victoria on a double-decker bus, followed by a 90-minute trip to the Butchart Gardents. If you want to stay longer at the Gardens, they can extend your entrance. They also have a tour that runs in the evening, allowing you to see the gardens when they are lit at night. Grey Line also offers tours of the Garden, with transport on a double-decker bus.
If you don't want a packaged tour, you can use public transport. The cost is about $2.50 each way, and busses leave every hour or so from downtown. It's a long trip, but it's scenic (and I think there is the posssibility that you'll be on a double-decker city bus). The bus is #75- see the schedule here: http://www.bctransit.com/regions/vic/schedules/sch
