Guernsey What's it like to live and work in Guernsey?

Will either be teaching in Fujairah (UAE) or Guernsey (Channel Islands). Have not decided yet which. Have found out quite a bit already on Fujairah (thanks everyone), and would now like to hear more about Guernsey. Any advice on which place to go for?

Guernsey! Is an Okay place to be and is children safe/friendly. The beer is cheap and the locals are friendly. Working it's okay, but local. You'll bump into your pupils quite often whilst out shopping and etc. If you like a safe place, cheap beer, funny nightlife, time travel, nice beaches and being stuck on a rock when the fog comes in... then this is the place for you.....

Hey, look at that, a Crapaud with something reasonable to say about the best of the Channel Islands! Thanks Jasen!
Guernsey is an amazing place to live and work. OK, so I am biased being a Donkey myself, but it is the best place to be. Much as I love to travel and "getting off the rock" is critical to ones sanity, it is always lovely to come home, and how many people in the world are lucky enough to be able to say that? Work-wise, yes, you will bump into pupils all the time when you go out and about, but is that a bad thing? What do you teach? (And if you answer "children" I won't talk to you anymore!) What age group and what subjects? Where would you be teaching if you came here? I can always try and get some inside info for you if it's not too late, and your decision isn't already made!
