Travel to Carcassonne to watch Tour July 14th (stage 12)?

Hi! I'm in Barcelona from july 10-18th for work / pleasure. I'm wondering if anyone has given a thought to driving up the coast then inland to catch stage 12 of the Tour de France, from Luchon to Carcassonne on July 14th.

Carcassonne itself seems like it would be a wonderful place to spend part of a day.

Google maps says it would be 300 km, about 3 hours, to drive. Thinking of departing early in the AM and returning the same day in the evening. Willing to split costs or if travelling with someone else's car, pay for gas.

That sounds like fun!

Carcassonne is wonderful indeed. I recommend stay the night, at least, within the city walls.
