| Atlantic City | Now that the state is shut down... Posted: Thu July 6, 2006 01:35 AM UTC
Hello all...
I've booked a room at the Taj Mahal for Sunday (7/9) for two nights. Now that the casino's are shut down (and don't seem likely to be open by then) is it worth it to spend the near $400 to stay for two nights? My main reason was to go to the casino as I've never been (AC, Vegas, anywhere!) and this is a real bummer for me. The Casino/Hotel is not giving refunds as other attractions are open. But, I can cancel my reservation with at most a $25 cancellation fee (from what I hear, they are waiving these) and spend my vacation elsewhere. So, I guess I'm asking... should I stay or should I go? Thanks all! |

Get out for a loss of $25.00 if you can. Atlantic City was one of the worse places I have ever spent any time. It is certainly a poor man's Las Vegas.

It really depends on your interest in gambling (everything but the gambling areas are open). If that's why you were going then go for the cancellation. However if you just want to see the place and enjoy the beach and ocean then keep the reservation. It is not Las Vegas but it can be enjoyable, especially in the summer.
It is also possible that they might break the government impasse by then because the pressure is mounting quickly.

Thanks for the replies! That is what I was thinking... I have nice beaches real close to me at the Outer Banks, so I was really interested in the Casino atmosphere...
Although, now I'm reading the casinos will be open again at 8PM tonight... So, I think I'm going to wait a little bit longer... thanks for all the replies all!! Matt

Looks like the casinos will reopen by Sunday, so have fun.
