any great things that i should do while in curitiba? i'm going for a wedding of a friends with my boyfriend...we love anything with a good history, athletic, culturally interesting, musical, etc..

- make the traintrip Curitiba - Paranagua. Get out in Morretes en return via the "graciosa". Wonderfull!
- there is a tourist bus (white colored) that goes along all the tourist points in Curitiba. Cheap und interesting.
- Take the bus early and visit "Vila Velha" at Ponta Grossa. See tourist guide.
- During a long weekend: take the bus to the falls of Foz do Iguaçu.

Go to Tanguas Park, Opera de Arame and for a walk in Jardim Botanico and Barigui Park!
Go to Bosque do Alemao at the end of the day to have a coffee with an apfellstrudel! :)
Nightlife, bar do Alemao, Taco el Pancho, Casa di Bela and Beto Batata (eating)!
Go to Alice bar on a saturday night to dance Forro or on a friday for a Salsa Night! Really nice!

For a listing of current festivals, theatre shows, dance performances, art exhibits, etc. try this website. It was recommended to me by my friends in Curitiba and was really helpful on my visits there!

I visited Curitiba in March. It is quite an interesting city. Brazilians describe it as the "1st world of Brasil" or the "model city for the country", etc.
While I couldnt figure out what is so special about their bus system, I did notice the green spaces and the cleanliness of the center.
The small old town is called "Largo da ordem" and it has some nice bars and restaurants. Some old buildings do need restauration, though.
There are only very few tourists in Curitiba, but it is interesting to visit for a bit.
