You can get train information at http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

The following web site offered a tiny bit of transportation info. There was a lot more at the web site so you might want to check it for tourist info. Here it is:

http://www.beyond.fr/villages/villefranche.html

Transportation:

Rail
Villefranche-sur-Mer is on the main Nice-Monaco-Menton-Ventimiglia line, with frequent service. The rail line curves around the edge of the bay, running just above the beach to the east of town.

Bus
The Nice-Monaco-Menton bus line has frequent service.

It's called La Rafale ("le petit train touristique") and it's a "road train", starts at Place Wilson I believe and goes around the Citadelle etc., to Beaulieu sur mer, and back to Villefranche taking about an hour in all (with commentary). Cost is 6.50 euro per adult, 3 euro for children, runs 15 April / end Oct, otherwise only when there is a cruise in town.
