Beruwala Our Wedding at Eden Resort & Spa
Posted: Tue July 4, 2006 07:51 PM UTC
We have just returned from Sri Lanka & wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time, the wedding was amazing, the accommodation was superb & the people were so friendly, they made us feel so welcome.
We would like to say a big thank you to Ajith & Patte (beach boys) for taking us on a two day tour of the Elephant Orphanage,Tea Plantation,Temple of the Tooth,Kandy Dancers, plus many more places, they also took us to the Turtle Hatchery where I realeased a three day turtle to the sea, despite what people may think about going on trips with beach boys in Sri Lanka we can honestly say they were brilliant & completley honest, we did not pay for the trip until we got back, we would highly recommend these people at the Eden.
If you are interested in doing any of the trips during your stay, you can contact Ajith & Patte on thr following e-mails.
Ajith on manoi@sltnet.lk
Patte on Patte01lk@yahoo.com
If you want anymore info regarding the wedding or trips you can contact us on jackie@andywhittam.plus.com
We will certianly go back to Sri Lanka again.
Regards
Jackie & Andy

Hi Jackie and Andy

Congrats on your wedding!!
Glad to hear you had a great time, and yes!!, i agree with you about going on trips with beach boys, there is no reason to be affraid of doing so, and of course in your case that proved to be just so.
Another recent poster here on VT Viki also got married in Sri Lanka, well actually today July 4th, and i know that they had a great time too, a little bird from the hotel they went too told me!!

I am so pleased that you had a great wedding at the Eden Spa, my daughter is getting married there in September and I am terrified that things may go wrong. I have had nothing but trouble with my agent and can get no reply from the hotel by email. I would love to see some of your wedding photos, do you have them posted on the web somewhere ? Was the area you got married in decorated with flowers etc, i.e. was it pretty and clean. Some of the pictures I have seen on websites are pretty naff with horrible yellow balloons in the background so I am a bit apprehensive. I would appreciate any info you might be able to give me. There are 22 of us going and I would like to arrange a meal for all of us in the evening, did you do anything like this ? If so how did it go. Any info gratefully received and photos all the better.

Thanks a lot , Irene

Hi Irene,
I can honestly say you have nothing to worry about, the hotel staff go all out to get things perfect,it started raining as we were getting ready and they thought they would have to bring everything inside, but they decided to wait a bit in the hope it would stop raining and luckly for us it did stop, we got married in the garden which was lovely, the ceremony is amazing, we were only 3 in our group but we did see a wedding with family there, they had a meal in the restaurant after, they laid a big table out for them.
We had the dancers and drummers which was very nice, we also had a dvd done which is very good quality and we also had photos taken, the album is amazing and you also get to keep the negatives which we had copied when we got home, we are very pleased with the quality of them.
If you need anymore info or photos you can e-mail me at jackie@andywhittam.plus.com
Hope this is helpful for you.
Regards
Jackie & andy

We were also married at the eden hotel in Sri Lanka, where we had the most amazing time. We were there in April 2006 we had a deluxe room which was fantastic the service was second to none and we had our own butler 24 hours a day nothing was too much trouble for the staff there at the eden. We have nothing but praise for everyone we came into contact with. Our wedding day was something we shall always treasure and the people of Sri Lanka made it all the more special. First thing in the morning we had full massages in the spa which was very relaxing an excellent way to the start of a truly wonderful day. I had my hair done at the hotel and it looked really nice, just how I asked. We were both led seperately in a procession with dancers and drummers to the wedding location. The wedding took place outside in the garden on a decorated stand called a Poruwa, we had two guests. After the ceremony we had champagne and cake and were entertained by the dancers and drummers, then it was time for the elephant who carried us out onto the beach where to our surprise the beach boy (Viraj) who had taken care of us during our time in Sri Lanka was waiting with two bouqets for us and had apparantly been waiting outside the gate for two hours in the heat of 42degrees. We then went and had coctails in the bar. After a walk on the beach at sunset we then had an evening meal for the four of us which took place up in one of the penthouse suites over looking the Indian Ocean it was magical, the view was incredible and the food was amazing! A perfect day!!
