I am planning a trip from Tucson, AZ in August 2006 to Guadalajara and back. i am looking for any advice, suggestions, about where to stay, which towns to visit, hostels or hotels that are cheap great experiences.
Also i am wondering about what route to follow, I would like to travel a different route back also. Please let me know of any suggestions and reccomendations you might have. Thanks! |

I lived in Guadalajara Mexico for almost a year and drove down there from Laredo 3 times already. My first advice is to stay on the Pay roads as much as possible. The free or Libre roads can often be hazardous and not as much law enforcement. AS for where to visit, I definitely suggest finding stopping at tiny beach towns that seem off the beaten path. Normally, you can always find a small 10 room hotel or bed & breakfast type places for less than $40. a night. I'm not sure how much time you have or how far you want to go, but I love the tiny town of Chacala. Look it up on the internet. They have a website where you can see photos and a listing of the rooms to rent. For history I love Guadalajara. The temperature is never too hot and the town has all you could want - and they have cheap hotels starting at like $25 a night. I will be there from Aug 24th to Sept 6th. Good Luck and hope you enjoy yourself!
