Hi All:

I am travelling alone to Ottawa this August. My flight arrives at 11:00 in the evening and my hotel is in downtown.
Question: Is it safe to take a cab from the airport to the downtown??? How much should I expect to pay ???

#1. This is Canada. Of course the taxi is safe.
#2. Various sites have various estimated costs for a taxi from the airport to downtown - they seem to average out at $25CA - others are invited to disagree (unfortunately, I have no idea what I actually paid when I was there...oh, well).

Ottawa will be pretty much asleep at 11pm. Across the river in Quebec will be a different story and both are safe

Cab from Airport - downtown should be about $20 - $30.

Ottawa is certainly not dead at 11pm on weekends. Maybe a little on week days but not really.

It's decided....Ottawa is extremely safe...no problem with taking a cab to downtown.....

I live close to downtown, and last time I took a cab to the airport, last Fall, it cost me $30 before tip. A different cab company has the contract now...so it might be a bit cheaper....but it will be in that price range.

Tip: Make sure the cab driver understands where you are going...even to the point of writing down the name and address of the hotel. We have alot of cab drivers who's first language is not English....they should know all the hotels.....and I don't mean to insult anyone.....just my experience in trying to get home from the airport....
