| Lhasa | Beijing to Lhasa, anybody have the scoop. Posted: Thu June 29, 2006 06:08 PM UTC
I've been waiting patiently reading the papers and know the tickets for the 1st an 2nd have been sold.
How easy or difficult was it to get tickets and did you have to get a permit or did they do away with that. I'm heading to Chengdu or Beijing tomorrow, whichever train leaves first. Anything you can add that would make it easier? |

It seems that the tickets for the 1st 2 months of operation have already been sold out. If you don't already have a ticket, you might just have to forget about taking the train and fly from Chengdu instead. You still need the permit to go to Tibet.

Looks like you may be one of the first to get to lhasa on the train. keep us posted on how you go, and any info on advanced bookings as we want to go in October. Also a very good news release on last Saturday 1st July on travelchinaguide.com It Lists Trains, Timetables, Locations, Seating Costs and some booking information but not much on how early you can confirm a seat from outside the country. Makes it hard to link airlines if you are trying to do a travel schedule.Looking forward to a trip report from you. regards
