Provincia de San José Car Rental

Having real issues at the moment.

Car rental ranges in price.

Found an excellent quote from Ebookers but they require an INternational Drivers Liscense.

Dollar are pretty cheap, but they don't include the excess insurance.

Basically, if the car got stolen, ebookers would refund monies lost. Dollar would bill us $1500.

Any ideas?

How do I get the international Liscence?

Post office for your licence.
Don't skimp on the insurance, It could cost you more than the $1500 in the long term.

I used Tricolor car rentals. There is an additional tax for cars picked up at the airport.Find a rental agency away from the airport and it will be cheaper.Tricolor sent a driver to pick us up at the terminal.Something to remember is that the cheaper the rental the older the car you'll get.Oh and unless you get a 4x4 the insurance won't cover you on unpaved roads.Buy all the insurance you can afford-but I didn't get the personal theft insurance.Credit cards that normaly will pay your insurance (as a benefit of owning the card) when you rent a car probaly won't in CR-...Pura Vida!

Never, ever use Tricolor car rental in San Jose, the cars were soo old. The guy with the shotgun out front is a nice welcome and they'll rip you off after the fact. Trumped up flat tire charges.. Stay away.

I remember the guard with the shotgun-But that's pretty normal for SJ.My car was old and a bit beat up but got us around.I made a big show of photographing everything before we took possesion of the car.Unfortunatly the cheaper the car rental fee the older the car you'll get
