| Austin | Fun things to do? Posted: Wed June 28, 2006 03:43 AM UTC
So we're in our 20s and were wondering what activities there are during the evening/nighttime, without having to step foot on the infamous 6th street.
We've tried out Karaoke (BTW, can anyone give recs on karaoke places), comedy clubs.. Yeah, we're out. Any ideas? Much appreciated! |

It's Austin, there are fun things everywhere. There are great bars in alomost every area of town.
For something different try Hanovers in Pfluggerville. They usually have live music Friday and Saturday nights. If being by the lake is more your style, Carlos & Charlies is a great place to party, day or night on the weekends. Lots of people in bathing suits coming off the lake. Marc

What kind of things do you like to do? Types of music, food, etc. If you're interested in dancing (or just watching), there's an Argentenian tango ring in Austin. There are a good amount of South American places to eat around here. Tons of art galleries, for free. Right now there is an exhibition of conceptual art from A Scanner Darkly at the austin visual arts association. There are so many things to do, but it depends on your tastes..

As for Karaoke, Canary Hut Pub has karaoke almost every night. It's just north of Braker on Burnet. Also, Baby Acupulco's off 183 has karaoke on Thursday nights (I think). Baby A's is also a good place just to go and hang out on the patio and drink...purple marg's always make for an interesting time. There's also a Dave and Busters in the area.
If you're looking for a comedy club, Cap City Comedy is off 183 and Burnet. There are usually pretty good headliners and it's fairly inexpensive. They've also got a bar and menu so you can make a evening out of it. The Alamo Drafthouses are also fun. You can do dinner while you're watching a movie and there are several around town. Hope that helps! Feel free to email if you have any more questions.
