I'm looking at Alsa website for a bus that leaves Santander Airport for Bilbao sometime after 14:00, and all I see is one bus that departs at 3:30. Does anyone know if there is more than one bus a day for this route and if it is, how do I get to that timetable? Thanks.

It's much easier if you take the Alsa airport bus from the arrivals lounge to the city of Santander, and then change to an Alsa bus from Santander to Bilbao.

Alsa airport buses leave about every 30 minutes and coincide also with Ryanair flights. It takes about 15 minutes from the airport to Santander coach station. The bus drops you outside the coach station, you just go inside (downstairs) to catch a regular coach from Santander to Bilbao. There is usually one every hour/90 minutes, and the trip to Bilbao takes about 75 minutes. So if you land around 14:00 you could well be in Bilbao before 17:00.
You can buy the tickets in advance, and even choose your seat, through the Alsa website.

I am under the impression that the Alsa bus from Santander airport would take me directly to Bilbao. Am I wrong and a change in Santander coach station is necessary?

We will be in Bilbao a few days in the beginning of September to catch the cargo ship out of the port. Truly looking forward to it since this will be our first time there.
