I am staying in Cannes, but would like to take a day trip to St. Tropez. What's the best way to get there other than renting a car?

Train. Don't rent a car. Traffic is horrible in the area.

I was in St.Tropez a few weeks ago and I noticed there are shuttles by boat. Might be a fun way of seeing also the rest of the coast between the two (St. Raphaël, Fréjus, Ste Maxime, ...). The market in St Tropez is on Tuesday and Saturday, if you like the market atmosphere it's certainly something to look out for. If not, you'd better choose another day.

Set days of the week the Trans Cote d'Azur boat trip Cannes port to St Tropez ( something like out 9.30 back 5.00 - check on line) , or bwtter still take the train from Cannes to St Raphael and there are a couple of trips a day from the Bateaux de St Raphael at the port there. Or hire a scoooter for the day and come and go as you please, but its a longish drive.
