| Manhattan Island | EWR to Manhattan transport Posted: Mon June 26, 2006 03:51 PM UTC
Our party of 4 will be arriving about midnight and need transportation with our 6 pieces of luggage. I don't think a cab can accomodate us. Will there be other options at the airport and will they be easily accessible or should I reserve a mini van?

I think you should definitely reserve and book something ahead of time. I have the name of a very reliable company if you need one... just email me here. I've used them for about 20 years and they will be there waiting for you.

well i booked a taxi,it's not a yellow cab and it's a fixed price of just over £9 pp which is great value,it picks you up from the airport and drops you at the hotel and the same when you're going back home,i booked it on viator, they have loads of other things to do and see in manhattan too

The Port Authority of NY and NJ is the official group which controls all the airports in the NYC metro area. Here's a link to their website with links to the major airports in the area. Within each airport there are links to various transportation choices to get to/from the airport to NYC.
http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/airports/html/index.html The yellow cabs from the airport have zone pricing so if you decide to take them from the airport, you fall into a queue for the yellow cabs. There's a person which asks where you are going and they write down the price for the one way trip. The price written down does not include tolls or tip. There are also shared shuttle buses / vans which drop off at specific locations or at your actual hotel destination. This is probably the option suited for your party. A list of shuttle buses/vans should also be listed in the above link.

foxxylove - looking by just the price, the transport you booked looks like one of the shared shuttle / mini-vans as the average one way price from JFK and Newark airport to NYC is $19 US.
