Fete de la Musique
Posted: Sat June 21, 2003 06:09 PM UTC
Today, it is the Music Feast in Paris (as in many cities of France and Europe).

There will be free spectacles by the streets and the weather seems fine.

The Tour Eiffel since 10PM will recover each hour its twinkling lights.

This year we will be in St Germain des Pres. The pictures on VT tomorrow morning.

We have enjoyed a full day of music. We spent the evening outside Paris (in Montfort-l'Amaury - it was quite fun!) and just returned home to see the Eiffel Tower all a-twinkling. What do you think of it Guyon? It makes my eyes hurt!

It can be seen from my daughter's bedroom window, and she loves it, but I would hate to live much closer!

I have not yet an opinion. I saw the Tower from the Pont Neuf. It was too far.
I hope the spectacle is more beautiful from the Trocadero.

OH! Please get some pictures to share with us all! It sounds so lovely. Wish I were there....(doesn't help that it's raining, again, here on the East coast of the US.)

I'll take a picture and see how it turns out. It really needs a video, since the lights twinkle...by the time I went to bed lst night I had several more looks at it and it's now growing on me! It was just such a shock. It wasn't what I expected!

Hello all,

Brussels and Wallonia are celebrating Music for 3 days: June 20-22.

I will assist the concerts at Brussels Grand-Place this evening. I planned Tzigane music in a nice café but my taste for discovery doesn't fit to my fellows' choice...
So, world music tonight...

We spend the night around Centre Pompidou and later at Place de la République. Even though Simply Red is not my favorite I'll have to admit it was a quite good concert he gave. The area around Canal St Martin was also full with people and both with official and more unofficial bands playing.

We had a great night out and the weather was absolutely perfect. Also wonderfull they kept the metro running all night so we didn't have to queue an hour for a taxi.

I haven't seen the Tour Eiffel yet, but I fear the worst (I quite like it as it was).

My camera had a too weak flash. So I shot few pictures.

Bonjour!

I was in Paris for the first time this weekend, and I really loved it.

But the fete de la musique was a highlight!!! We spent the evening around Montmartre, great music everywhere. From the steps at Sacre Coeur we watched fireworks everywhere - the whole horizon full of fireworks. And from there Tour Eiffel looked wonderful, sparkling and twinkling.

Do you have this festival every year?

Can't wait to go back :-)

Stef

Yes since 22 years.
And today it is the cinema festival.

Bad news : Monday and the days after it is the work festival. I have already an appointment with my boss.
