Bari Travel Forum

Hello, I will be visting Bari and traveling to a little town called Grumo Appula where my grandparents left from to New York City over 100 years ago. Any info on this little town is greatly appreciated.

My mother & father were born in Gruom Appula, my oldest sister and two brothers also born in Grumo , left for america in 1953, I traveled there in 1972, and 1975 to stay with my grandmother. Most of my extended family still lives in Grum Appula. All I can say is go!!! It was beautiful and peaceful when I went. Visit the Cemetery the oldest one you can find.. most of the family names have there own mouseleum. Here is a good place to start for family history. Also go to the church, once again the oldest one you can find. Rest easy in Grumo, remember when you are there, You are breathing in the same space on earth your grandparents and their grandparents took their breaths, nothing will ever be like it.. This is so exciting!! Hi there. I am just starting to plan a trip to take my 80 year old mother back to Grumo Appula, where her parents came from back in the 30's. It is so cool to hear from others doing exactly the same. There is a web site with info on Grumo, just do a search for Grumo Appula and it should come up.
