hi. my wife and i are coming to kunming in february next year. we want to buy a couple of bikes so that we can bike from kunming to laos and vietnam. we don't need the best bikes, just fairly good ones. is it possible to buy bikes easily in kunming? and also other accessories like panniers, helmets,etc. do you know if there are any places to buy used bikes second hand? also, do you know how much they cost? i have heard that biking is very popular in kunming. we are very excited to visit. thank you for any information you can give us! - chesley

Hello,
My husband and I travelled by bike in China last year and the year before last. Each time we bought the bikes there : first time in Suzhou, near Shanghai, second time in Xian : good enough GIANT mountain bikes cost about 700 yuan each. I have never been to Kunming, but since it is quite a big city, I would be very surprised if there was not at least one good bike shop there. Anyway travelling by bike in China is great ! Next month, we are going there again, intend to go biking in Sichuan or Guizhou..... Good luck, happy cycling ! Catherine (from France)

there is a great bike shop in kunming, where you will be able to get all levels of bikes and they will also be able to give you some advice (should you need it).
