| The Hague | An hour in the Hague or Amsterdam :) Posted: Thu June 22, 2006 06:11 PM UTC
I'm being flown over for an interview in the Hague on Monday...a bit excited as I've never been to the Netherlands before. Anyway, they've booked me on quite a late flight back to England...at 9pm. I'm assuming the interview will be over by 5pm, so the question is, do I have enough time to see at least something in either the Hague or Amsterdam? Any ideas?
It only takes half an hour to get from the Hague to the airport, right? Thanks :@P Maykal |

The train from the Hague to Schiphol airport takes 30 minutes, so you could check out the Hague after your interview for a couple of hours.
You could also take the train to Amsterdam (50 minutes) look around there and then take the train to Schiphol airport (15 minutes)

The only problem I can see is the check in time at Schiphol - do you have to be there two hours before take off. Whereabouts in The Hague is your interview - is it in the city centre?

No, it's one train stop away from Den Haag Centraal...is that quite close to the centre?
With the flight...I know I'm supposed to check in 2 hours before, but I won't have any luggage, and will have checked in online, so that should give me a bit of extra time. oh well, tomorrow we will see :@P

Well one stop away would be either Den Haag HS, Voorburg or Laan NOI and they would be just a two or three minute ride in to Centraal Station. I guess you wouild then gave a 5 mnute walk in to the centre but the touisty things are dotted around everywhere. Have a look at some VT peoples pages and decide on what you fancy doing - there may be time.

It was Voorburg!
In the end, i only had an hour or so spare, so I spent it walking around Den Haag in the rain...I have no idea what i saw, but think it was the parliament and the Queen's palace...and many old houses and churches. It was nice, but just a pity I didn't have longer to see a bit more...anyway, thanks for the advice. I'm very impressed by Dutch trains, by the way!
