Can anyone recommend a hotel in Tangier. Some place with local color (but without local bugs). No student hostels, please. we're too old. No luxury hotels. We're too poor.

I've got just the place- Pension Ibn Battuta, opposite the Hotel Murnia of William S. Burroughs fame. The hotel is clean and the staff are pleasant, over the course of several visits I've always had a nice stay. The hotel does have its charm and the rooms are good value (it was around 300 dhs for a double with ensuite bath the last time I stayed a year ago)...

Also, the Continental (not the intercontinental) with character and view and lower price.
