Évora cheap sleeps - Evora area
Posted: Fri June 20, 2003 06:07 PM UTC
Hi,
Any recommendations for budget, comfy sleeps in Evora, Estremoz or marble villages area? Do I need to book ahead? (Sept.16 - 1 night). Also, we will be going on to Lisbon next. Should we drop our rental car and take a bus or train from Evora to Lisbon, or should we drive? How long does it take? If we drive, we plan to drop our car once we get to Lisbon. I've heard driving in Lisbon should be avoided. Would it be best to drop our car at the airport, then take a bus or taxi into the city? You excellent advise is appreciated.Marciajo

I presume you're leaving Évora on September, 17th.

To watch the train timetables go to

http://www.cp.pt/cgi-bin/Search/pass1.pl?linguagem=en

select E and L, then select Évora and Lisboa from the pull-down menu and select your options.
The travel should take aroud 2h40m.

For further information while in Lisboa feel free to contact me.

Good luck.
Enjoy!

You have buses for 9.80€ from Evora to Lisbon Setp 17th from 6:30 am to 20:00 almost each hour, should book before leaving. Ask at tourism information in Evora.
About the car, i think you'll spend more money keeping the car. you can rent another if you want in Lisbon after seing how it works...

the youth hostel is currently closed.
you can try something local and less expensive. there's a palace on the back street of the city's cathedral that rents rooms. Private rooms with private bathrooms for 30 euros a day. if you rent one week the price is very different. i give martial classes in the same house in the gymnasium it also has, so if you're interested i can send you some pictures.

this is an amazing spot. you're living local, right besides the city cathedral and 5 minutes walking from all major monuments in town.
cheers.
