| Cadiz | Loop from Madrid to Southern Spain Posted: Wed June 21, 2006 04:18 AM UTC
Six of us will be traveling a loop to/from Madrid to Southern Spain (Cadiz, Seville, Gibraltar)for about 10 days at the end of September. Any advice about how to get there, where to stay (need 3 to 4 beds), sites to see, festivals, and weather at that time of year?

I will try to answer your question on how to get there.
From Madrid to Seville (Santa Justa Station) its better to do it by train it costs about 55€ and takes about three hours. From Seville to Cadiz its by train again and costs around 9€ and takes about one hour fortyfive minutes. From cadiz to gibraltar it would have to be by bus as there is no train link, You would have to get the bus from Cadiz to either Algeciras or La Linea. If going to algeciras there is a bus to La Linea every 30 mins. At La Linea which is the neighbouring town to Gibraltar the bus stop is a five minute walk to the frontier. Some websites that might help you are www.renfe.es (train company in spain) and www.tgcomes.es (bus company in Cadiz).

On your way to Cadiz, you might want to consider stopping in Jerez, as the Fiestas de Otoño will be on until around the end of September...This is particularly recommended if you want to see authentic flamenco.

Thank you for your response. I will check out the train and bus websites you suggested. Looks like we won't be going to Cadiz or Gibraltar, but Seville, Malaga, Cordoba, and Granada are in!

This festival sounds interesting. How close it is to Seville? What happens at the festival?
