Would you go to Fussen from Munich only for the day?
It is a 2 hours trip and I can not find many trains coming back and forth.
What would you suggest?
The next day I am taking the night train Munich-Koln and therefore it was easier to go for the day to fussen living my bags in the hotel in Munich until the other day at night. Do you know if there are lockers in Munich's train station? Maybe that would be an option.

Please give me some advice!

Thank you in advance!

1) of course there are lockers in the main station in Munich. Look for the "suitcase in a box" pictogram.
2) There is a train connection to Füssen every hour. It is not as frequent as a subway of course, but allows sufficient flexibility in my eyes. I would make it dependent on weather - on a grey rainy day it wouldn't make sense to go see the castles, as at least Neuschwanstein is far more interesting from outside and with the backdrop of the mountains than from inside.
There are three other castles related to Ludwig II - Hohenschwangau (on a hill opposite Neuschwanstein) where he actually grew up (restored and refurbished in the early 1800s), Linderhof between Füssen and Garmisch (there is a bus line from one to the other stopping at Linderhof) and Herrenchiemsee on the island of the same name in the Choemsee lake. I think the interior in the latter is much better. You would have to take a train to Prien and a boat from there to the island.

I did it! I took the train to Fussen and rode a bus back to Munich the same day. I only visited Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau but those are the two best castles in my humble opinion. I think even if you only have time for Neuschwanstein, it's still worth all of the effort.
Good luck and have fun!

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/e
From: Munich
To: Fuessen
or even better
To: Hohenschwangau

Hohenschwangau is the closest bus stop to Neuschwanstein Castle.
Many tourists do Neuschwanstein as a day trip from Munich.
I guess you have queried to "Fussen". This is wrong! You have to use "Füssen" or "Füssen". The umlaut ü becomes ue if not available as character. E.g.

Go for it! And don't miss to walk through Füssen's lovely pedestrian zone. Apart from the Castles and the little lake, Hohenschwangau is a dreadful place. Avoid buying anything or eating there, it is overpriced and low quality. Nearby Schwangau is much better for this. Füssen offers a much better range of services at much lower prices.

Equally well-suited for a daytrip would be Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Mittenwald -- both with train connections to Munich and cable cars up dramatic mountains. In fair weather, I would prefer this to the somewhat tacky castles of crazy Ludwig. They are much closer related to Hearst Castle in CA than to any real castle of Medieval times.
