| Nanchang | Luggagae storage at train station Nanchang Posted: Tue June 20, 2006 12:30 PM UTC
hello,
I'll be travelling from Shanghai to Hong Kong by train, but because it such a long distance I was thinking of spending a day in Nanchang. I will arrive in Nanchang in the morning and I will continue my journey to Hong Kong late in the evening. However, I do not want to take all my luggage with me that day. So I was wondering whether there are deposit boxes or storage rooms at the train station where I can safely leave my luggage for the day. I hope anyone can inform me about the available possibilities. Yours faithfully, Hjalmar de Graaff (The Netherlands) |

BTW, you do know that you can't get off the train halfway if you're taking the train all the way to Hong Kong from Shanghai, I hope? This's because the immigration formalities will be settled in Shanghai before you even get on the train. Thus if you want to stop over somewhere, buy a ticket for Shanghai -- XXX and then another for XXX -- Hong Kong.
Nanchang isn't worth the stopover, Guilin/Yangshuo or even Guangzhou would be more worthwhile! Or you could also try Xiamen. Also, taking a train to Guangzhou/Shenzhen (no direct trains from Shanghai to the latter though) would be more value-for-money than the train all the way to Hong Kong. Get off at Guangzhou/Shenzhen and take a bus for the remainder of the journey.

Sorry, just realised that I haven't answered what you've asked. Luggage storage is available at all train stations throughout mainland China.

First, there's luggage storage at the train station.
Second, the train doesn't stop at the Nanchang city train station, will stop at Nanchang countryside, a small station, it's not convenient to visit Nanchang just for one day. Third, if you get off at Nanchang, your sleep-bed ticket(from shanghai to HK)is unavailable for next train. Nanchang is a soso city, but Lu Mountain is one of china five mountains and very fantastic scene, take 2 hrs by train or bus from Nanchang. There're some other beautiful mountains around, such as Shan Qing Mountain and Dragon tiger Mountain. enjoy ur trip Dana
