| Santo Domingo | Camera/Camcorder security Posted: Mon June 19, 2006 12:39 AM UTC
How much should I be concerned about security from thieves in Santo Domingo -- especially in the Zona Colonial? I'm an experienced traveler in Latin America, but this is my first trip to DR. I'm always careful about keeping the straps wrapped around my wrist and other common sense measures, but just don't know what to expect there and don't want to lose anything. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Thank you for your advice. I had a feeling that was the case, but since this is my first time there, I want to be sure.

I live and travel around Latin America frequently and I felt a particular insecurity at the Market in Zona Colonial, particularly because there are lots of kids begging and they seem to be running around. Other than that you would be safe.
Enjoy.
