I will be in FP for 2 weeks in September. We are spending most of our time on Moorea, but have 4-5 days to spend on a second island. We are having a tough time deciding between Huahine, Raiatea and Rangiroa. Rangiroa sounds marginally better, but is more difficult and expensive to get to.
Can anyone offer advice / tips / experiences from any of these 3 that might help us decide?
Rangiroa is different from the other two you mentioned, my suggest is to stay between 3 and 4 nights at the same place. You'll have nothing to do there.. less in Moorea... why not Bora-Bora?
If I'll be back to Moorea one day it'll be just for that day, degustibus, I've already been there and I wouldn't spend anymore time.
That's my opinion, very beatiful island but I saw something better in FP and people with more charm....
rangiroa -completly flat ring shaped island made of coral, its very pretty but nothing there !it has the worlds largest lagoon and can fit an island the size of tahiti in the middle, and you cant see the other side !can walk from one side to other in about 10 mins !
huahine-very pretty ,natural island, not much tourism ,nice little beaches ,can do few things like kayaking
raitea -stunning,big mountain you can climb for amazing views over bora bora and tahaa, nice restarants near dock, more activites and tours you can do ,like vanilla falm, motu trip where you can have traditional polynesian dinner cooked underground, but in raitea there is no real beach ,just small man made bit !
