Just a idea for you to concider...take a water ride to Capri, then take a water ride to Positano,..... or visa versa.....then back to Naples....of course sorrento, Amalphi and Pompeii are all within easy reach....dont forget to have a "Lemoncello" while there....Barry in Louisiana (disaster area)

There is bus service, but I would suggest going by boat instead. Busses are slow and nauseating (it's a very twisty ride that goes up and down a lot), with views that could be described as "terrifying". Boats are quick and relaxing, you can take in the fresh air, and the views are BEAUTIFUL! When I visited the Amalfi Coast I took the Metro del Mare, which only runs in high season. There are several routes connecting Positano and Naples. http://www.metrodelmare.com/linee_g.html

most people select a SITA bus from Positano to Sorrento and then the Circumvesuviano train line from Sorrento into Naples. Should take no more than 2 -21/4 hours travel time assuming decent connections. The bus trip is very beautiful (sit on the left side). The assorted ferries are also very nice trips but Positano pier is not sheltered and in rough weather the ferry will bypass Positano. This happened to us. Remember these waters are the legendary home of Scylla and Charybdis from the Odyssey and can get quite rough.
