Anchorage Alaska Native Heritage Center

Has anyone been here? Is it worth the day? I will be in Achorage 3 days and want to make the most of every minute! Can we take a city bus from Captain Cook Hotel or are there shuttles?

I wouldn't say it's worth a whole day, but if you have an interest in Native cultures its a great way to spend a half day. The interpretive areas are very well done, the speakers are exellent, and the artists area offers some of the best deals in Alaska.

The Heritage Center is an excellent way to get a feel of all the native cultures in Alaska. The 5 sites around the lake represent the 5 major native cultures. Lots of good crafts for sale.
Getting there I not sure about. The Cook is close to the downtown bus depot that is the hub of all bus transport in Anchorage - so you can probably get close to the center with them. I have always had a rental car in Anchorage - get around so much easier.

The Native Heritage Center has free shuttles from a couple of downtown locations.
