We, mother and father and two boys of 10 and 12, are spending 2 weeks in Brela from the end of June this year.
We have not been to this area before, and are very anxious to find out more about what to do and what to see in the area. Easpecially we would like to know about exciting things to do together with the boys. We are also very fond of local cousine, both food and drink, and would appreciate comment about this as well.

If you'll have a car, take a trip to Imotski area (1 hour drive). It's not in the coastal region but hinterland, and is not touristy at all. Imotski is a tiny sleepy town on the hill with 2 beautiful lakes on its outskirts (Modro jezero=Blue lake, Crveno jezero=Red lake). Also it has different cuisine than Brela with more meat (lamb etc).

Besides Makarska Riviera, where Brela is, is full of little villages to stop by. Biokovo Mountain is overlooking Brela if you'll feel like hiking. From Drvenik, also on M. Riviera, you can take a ferry to hop on Hvar island.
