The Goddess Diana with hunting dog. No artist given. Was this work in the Chiarmonti Museum of the Vatican? Many pieces have no name or artist.

We were with a tour group and I don't know the Vatican by museums. I just know it was in the hall prior to reaching the Sistine Chapel. I would like to post the picture, but I don't know how to do that in this program. Can you help?
Thanks

Linda, there is writing at the base of the statue, but I can't make it out from you PPP, since I assume that it was reduced in size when you uploaded it to VT.

It's likely that the writing is just the name of the Pope who collected it (Sixtus V has his name all over), but it would be instructive to make sure.

If you could email it to me, I could blow it up...

Also, I see the number "25", which may be a catalog number...unfortunately, the online catalog of the Museums (http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/MV_Musei.html) does not cover all the Museums, and the ones likely to have such a statue are not yet done...
