| Messina | Messina to Taormina Posted: Mon June 12, 2006 02:32 AM UTC
We are docking at Messina - which train station do we want for taking a driect train to Taormina..
And it appears the train is a 10 minute or so walk? We found the website for the train - it looks like you are reserving a place/ticket and then paying for it when you get there? Is this a good plan as opposed to taking a bus? Thanks |

Hi. I am looking for the same information. I will be docking in Messina on on a cruise ship in July. We want to go to Taormina for the day and have found both bus and train options. I have read that the bus is a 1 to 1 and 1/2 hour trip and drops you off in the middle of Taormina. I think the train drops off outside of Taormina and you have to take a bus into town. If you find out anything, I would greatly appreciate you emailing me what you find. Thanks a bunch!

I too am doing the same thing in Sept. I went on a web site called cruise diva. The train station is a mile from the pier and there is regular service to Taorimina; however, the Taormina station is at the bottom of a hill and bus or taxi is needed to reach the town. Taxis are generally available at the pier and fares should be negotiated before setting out. All this from the website. If you find out more than that I would apprieciate you letting me know. I was going to just take one of the excursions being offered by the cruise line. It is relativly inexpensive, and sounds fairly interesting.
