Leeds Best day trip from Leeds

Hello--I have an extra day in Leeds and am wondering what the best day trip (via rail or bus) is from Leeds? I literally have ALL day. We will have spent time in London already.

Thanks in Advance for your advice!

I would recommend York to you. It is a beautiful place to visit, and is only around 20-30 mins on the train, and a return ticket costs around £6-£8. Have fun

Definitely York, no question about it. Look at the VT York pages to see why!

Haworth is my recomendation - take a Skipton bound train and get off at Keighley after 20 minutes. In the summer the steam train will be working on the Worth Valley railway most days but if not take the Oxenhope bus and get off in Haworth - a 20 minute journey. There are lots of members pages on Haworth so you can see what you think.

If you want one of the historic centres of England, definately York. Easy to reach by train (or the bus I mention below).

If you want areas of outstanding natural beauty, the Yorkshire coast with places like Whitby is easy to reach if you have a whole day. This bus will take you there via York and then the stunning North York Moors National Park:

Takes a while but is worth every second.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is closer to Leeds itself and also stunning. A great bus is 800/805 which takes you to places like Grassington, Aysgarth (with the waterfalls used in Kevin Costner's Robin Hood) and Hawes. Check the times at: http://www.dalesbus.org
