RE: Cost of private beaches at Lido Posted: Fri June 16, 2006 11:16 PM UTC
we've just got back from a 3 day stay at the hotel panorama on the lido. (brilliant!). they had a deal with a company that own a private section of beach on the lido. For 7.5 euros each we got beach towels, loungers and umbrella all day - a relative bargain considering the price of somethings in Venice. The private sections are MUCH better kept sections of beach than the public, which looks a little dirty and crowded. (the private beaches are raked each night to clear litter / shells / seaweed etc).
GREAT beach though with superb facilities.
I was a little worried about the standard of water and sand before going, and ok, it's not paradise, but its a damn sight better than most Med beaches you could visit.
The actual law is that you can use the first few metres of ANY beach on the lido, although if you venture further in on a private one, an attendent will quickly appear to usher you away.
It was VERY obvious which sections are private and which public, but its up to personal choice whether its worth the extra $$$ (I say it is)
