Hello everybody!

Me and my friend Jiri are planning a visit to Shkodra between the 15th and 30th of July. Even if we already visited several pages on the net and we even bought a Guide book, we are still lacking a few essential info like:

*Timetable and transportation between Montenegro (Podgorica or Bar or Ulcinj)and Shkoder

*Availability of camping sites in Shkodra and surroundings

*Which is the best point of the border between Montenegro and Albania that we should use to get to Shkoder

Any info about these topics or other tips would be more than welcome.

there are two daily minibuses that connect Ulcinj with Shkoder, I'm not sure about the time table one is in the morning, the other aorund 13.00 I guess, but I'm not sure. taxi is the other option. Minibuses in ulcinj depart from a place they call the old bus station, it's not far from the actual bus station, you can walk.

the border cross from Ulcinj (Subotica/Murriqan)is the best, good road short distance.
There are not camp sites in Shkodra, you should search for a hotel. There is a travel agency at the ground floor of hotel rozafa, in the city center, they can give good advices for accomodation.

Are you going to try a stay in the Albanian Alps also? Theth, in Shkoder district, is a nice village you can use as a base for some fantastic hikes.

I took the minibus from Ulcinj in May of 2006 at 6 a.m. and we arrived at Hotel Rozafa in the heart of Shkoder around 2 hours later. Visit Dina's travel in Ulcinj and ask them about riding with one of their friends. You will get picked up in front of their establishment and get taken to Shkoder for 4 euros. Most likely, you will have to pay 10 euros for a visa to enter Albania. You get this at the border.
