| Changzhou | Who moved the cheese? Posted: Sat June 10, 2006 02:09 PM UTC
Can any one help as to where you might buy some foreign food like NZ cheese or whatever? Hyland has a very limited scope and a place as big as Changzhou and as close to Shanghai/ Wuxi/ Suzhou must have a place to buy this stuff.

Cheers for that - yes China is so NOT a cheese country - but many diary producing nations are trying to change that...
Been here 2 years and I can find 'soft' cheese in Nanjing, Zhenjiang and any where there is a Metro. But Changzhou I have not fully explored...so any advice from local Changzhouians would be greatly appreciated...

In Nanjing, we go to IVY (a chained store), or the top floor supermarket in Golden Eagle (a shopping center), and the supermarket Metro for imported food. But maybe the choice is quite limited.
In IKEA shanghai there is a Swedish food store, where u may find sth more.

try the Carrefour stores! sometime they have some...depends on the place (suzhou quite poor...). Otherwise, METRO is a good option too...not fresh cheese but Gouda, Edam or Gorgonzola should be there. Indeed "rara avis" an item hard to find.
Good luck and if any results, please hit us back. All for CHEESE and CHEESE for all!
