Jasper National Park TRAVEL THROUGH ROCKIES
Posted: Thu June 8, 2006 10:51 PM UTC
We are planning to travel from Jasper to Vancouver. We plan to fly into Calgery or Edmonton and drive to Lake Louise and Jasper. From there we want to take either Rocky Mountineer or Via Rail to Vancouver and spend a couple of days in Vancouver. We are thinking this would give us the best of all (Train, ROckies, Vancover and the Jasper National Park/Lake Lousie). I am not able to get any car rentals one way as we will either fly into Calgery/Edmonton and Fly out of Vancouver (or the other way Fly in Vancouver and Out of Calgery/Edmonton). Even if I get a car rental it is working out way too expensive for oneway rental.

We have a total of 6 days excluding the day we fly in. ANy suggestions? What is the best way to see all this. We are a family with 2 kids.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I don't know the exact prices but before you rule out the one way car rental make sure you check the train ticket price (I thinks its around $600). The car would give you a lot more flexibility to see and do the stuff you want. The train would be great too but if you haven't seen any of it before you would miss so much.

Hi,

If you want to see some great driving itineraries of the Canadian Rockies, check out my Banff travel page. An associate of mine has her own webpage, where she has laid out about 10 different itineraries of varying lengths. She has done a really great job of it, and I see no reason to repeat her ideas myself. (I like to give credit where due!) Her address is listed on my Banff travel page.

I hope you have a great vacation.

Hope it isn't too late, but you should fly into Calgary if you are short of time. Edmonton to the rockies is a long ass drive and half of it you can only see straight up because you are in a tunnel of lodgepole pine. Still a nice drive, but much longer and less sceinic than Calgary-Banff.
