I will be visiting Vienna next week. I would like to take a day trip to Mauthausen. Is there a website in English that shows the train schedule. Is the train the quickest way to get there?

yes the train is the quickest :
www.oebb.at fill out "MAUTHAUSEN OÖ" it will take you to the main station, from there might be a bus, but I am not sure. in any case the former KZ is in a distance of about 3 km from the town !! Make sure that your train goes to St.Valentin, where you change to the train to Mauthausen. Changing train in LINZ is much more expensive & also a bigger distance ! See my Mauthausen-page for pics and more infos ! and there is also : http://www.mauthausen-memorial.at/
