Hum...I just wrote a post, but now I can find it...so here it is again...

I plan to take a bus from Catania's airport to taormina. I would like to know:

1) Can I buy the ticket at the airport when I arrive or do I need to buy it with anticipation?

2) Where is the final bus stop at Taormina? Do I have to take a taxi to get to the town's center or can I just walk there (with all my baggage)?

"inserisci città di partenza" = from (choose Aeroporto Catania)
"inserisci città di arrivo" = to
Leave "tutti gli orari" (all hours)
and next there is "tutti i giorni" (all days) or
"Lunedì" (Monday) "Martedì" (Tuesday)....
"vai" means GO click and you'll see...

I saw there are no ticket office at Catania's airport, they probably sell on the bus, you have to ask them to be sure

Hm...I never needed to go by local bus from the airport and only used those from Catania itself but VT member Razmatac I'm sure had to get back into the airport to get a ticket before he was allowed to board so maybe check with him if the bus office won't tell you. Although I'm not sure how long ago his travel were now...

As for Taormina, you end up in the bus station which is IN Taormina itself up on the hill but you still have to walk a bit to get to the centre so it depends on where your hotel is. If it is near the Isola Bella/Letojanni side, it's not that much of a walk as if it is a walk through the centre itself. Having said that, it IS a nice walk along pedestrian roads (unless you're in one of those hotels on a terrace with stairs) and not THAT far. But there are also taxis. Enjoy a fantastic place!

thanks....I guess I'll take a taxi, Via pirandello is at the south-east part of Taormina and I will be staying at the absolutely north-west part....and if the city is a hill it's better to take a taxi.

Well...the town centre itself is flat enough but hotels seem to cling to the side of the cliff.

i am stationed in sicily at sigonella naval base and would not advise you to take a bus from the catania airport to taormina it is quite a drive and with all of your luggage it will be a giant pain.

My husband and I are going to be staying in Letojanni and will be flying into Catania.

1. What's the most effective way to travel from Catania airport to Letojanni?

I've reviewed the website you sent in (http://www.etnatrasporti.it/) and it looks like they have buses from Catania to Taormina.

How can I get tickets for the bus? How long of a walk is it from Taormina bus station to Letojanni?

to letojanni? I don't think you can walk to there...anyway, I took the bus from Catania to Taormina and you can buy the tickets at the airport once you are there,.,
