| Sochi | Homestays/budget hotels in Sochi? Posted: Thu June 1, 2006 11:13 AM UTC
Does anyone know of any homestays in Sochi? Or - at a push - budget hotels/pensions? Have read in LP guide that owners soemtimes lok for potentail guests at the stations....do they go to the ferry terminal too? Any addresses would be helpful. Thanks.
Also - if anyone has taken the ferry between BAtumi/Poti and Sochi, what is it like? |

Hi
Do you speak Russian? Reason I ask is that when I was there last summer, there were loads of signs outside houses offering rooms etc, but if you don't speak the language, you might struggle a bit. Anyway, I am pretty certain that you should be fine - we were mainly in Adler rather than Sochi itself, but plenty of choice for accommodation throughout.

I can read a little Russian so hopefully that will help. Thanks. By the way do you know anything about registering visas? I just heard you can't get them registered through a homestay....

Hi
Sorry for the late reply but I was travelling on business. Are you spending any time in Moscow? If so, you will definately need to be registered there. When I went to Sochi, I was already registered in Moscow so never bothered in Sochi. I never had any problems when I left. I can't claim that you don't strictly need to be registered, and I know that in Kaliningrad you need to register, even if registered elsewhere. Sorry I can't be more help - try asking the people who are issuing your visa?
