| Genoa | Nice beaches in Genoa Posted: Wed May 31, 2006 11:40 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of visiting Genoa (and the surrounding area) many times this summer. I'm wondering if there are any nice beaches in the vicinity of Genoa. What about nice coastal towns near by? All suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Cheers Adan |

so many - our particular favorites are santa margherita ligure and camogli, near the famous village (with no beach) of Portofino. There are multiple VT pages on these, including mine, as well as of other seaside villages. These are all accessed on the train south from Genoa or by car.

is forbidden only in some part of the city...but no one could think to make a bath in these places!
to stay into the city you can go to Quinto...many small beaches in which people of genova go to the beach during the lunch time... don't miss to go to Camogli (use train) . NOT go to santa margherita... water is terrible! the same in rapallo go to sori, bogliasco, zoagli, sestri levante, lavagna , cavi di lavagna... use always the train ...parking is very diffucult!

Hi there mkvalya,
Thanks for your advice. In fact I will be staying in Rapallo and was hoping to swim there during the day. But now you've got me thinking after saying the water is terrible. Is it polluted? If I stay in Rapallo, where would you recommend I go for a nice swim nearby? I will have my car with me. Do the trains run late in the day and how much would it cost to go from Rapallo to one of the nearby beaches you would recommend? Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers CE

go by bus to san michele di pagana... it's only 5 minutes
or go to sestri levante... or lavagna ... trains are cheap, about 4euro for a return ticket... and the travel is only 20-30 min max. you can check the timetable on www.trenitalia.com in rapallo take the cableway to see the landscape from montallegro sanctuary...wonderful! ciao
