I am a Mexican student who will visit Utrecht (Nederlandas) in a couple of weeks, then I need to move from Utrecht to lausanne by train, I wonder if some good friend can help me with this trip.

take a consideration to get a flight.
Easyjet http://www.easyjet.com/en has one from Amsterdam to Geneva which is close to Lausanne. The price is not bad at all, I tried to book for June 29th and I could buy airfare per adult or child €46.49 (per person) Taxes and charges per adult or child €7.50 (per person) Total amount due: 1 adult €53.99 (total cost) Other wise the possibilities are going through France to Geneve or via Germany to Basel. It's long way and I don't believe cheaper a lot.

The fastest way would be to take a plane from Amsterdam(EasyJet has good deals) to Geneva, and then take the train to Lausanne. (www.sbb.ch/en for the swiss train schedule)
A few years ago I took the train from Amsterdam to Lausanne so you could also check out this possibility if the flights are too expensive on the day you want to fly... It took a long time by train, but in those days, EasyJet didn't fly Amsterdam-Geneva, so that was the cheapest option... Good luck. Anne

heya,
easyjet is a good option. flights from amsterdam to geneva are around 30 euro. just looked up the prices for the trains from amsterdam to basel and further on to lausanne. the price in switzerland (basel to lausanne) is also around 30 euro!!! so i'll think you'll save time and money using a flight. mirj
