| Valladolid | train travel Posted: Tue May 30, 2006 09:40 AM UTC
Hi!
I am very glad I have found this site! My friend and I are going to the boom festival in portugal(3-9th august). The flights to lisbon and porto in portugal are too expensive- we dont have the money for them, and we would still have to pay 55 euros each for the bus to the festival. There are affordable flights to valladolid but I have no idea how feasible it is to travel to the festival in portugal by train and cant find much info on train travel from spain to portugal. So basically I want to know if it is possible to take the train from valladolid to Idanha-a-Nova in portugal? I appreciate any help you can give! |

You don't say what time (or day!) your flight would arrive at Valladolid but you would have to go from there to Madrid then it takes 11 hours to Castelo Branco via Entroncamento, a major Portuguese railway junction on the Madrid-Lisbon line, and from Castelo Branco you would have to get a bus to Idanha-a-Nova, see http://www.boomfestival.org/archiv/boom02/content/
For train timetables, this covers the whole of Europe and you may find it easier than www.renfe.es: http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/query.exe/en?L=b-rail& But it won't give you prices for trains outside Belgium, for that you will have to check with RENFE. You may well find it a false economy to take a "cheap" flight to Valladolid rather than a more expensive one to Portugal.

Hi,
I don´t know if Valladolid is the best option. From Valladolid Airpot to Lisboa (Santa Apolonia Station) you have to make the following way: - Take a bus from Valladolid Airport to Valladolid Bus Station. you will find prices ant timetables in www.aena.es - From Valladolid Bus Station to Valladolid Railway Station (Campo Grande) 5 minutes walking - From Valladolid (campo Grande) to Lisboa (Santa Apolonia Station) take a train. For timetables search in www.renfe.es The prices are in document http://www.renfe.es/productos/pdf/surex_151205_adultos.pdf Fernando

sorry I havnt got back on here to say thanks sooner, but I have had very important exams, and.. it took us ages to sort out what we were doing. Took your advice about it being easier to travel in oporto or lisbon, so we have flights to oporto.
You must remember though, although england is blessed(?) with low cost airlines, they are not always low cost an it is very destination specific. When i was referrirng to expensive flights, they were 200 pounds at the time, which is a lot. Luckily they went back down again to about 125 pounds. It is luck as to whether a flight is cheap or not! Many thanks for your help and advice!
