| Albuquerque | Good side of town...? Posted: Sun May 28, 2006 10:52 PM UTC
Alright, we've all been to a new place and had a bad experience because we booked online at what appeared to be a "good side of town." Or maybe just me. But anyhow, what are some neighborhoods/districts, etc. to avoid? We'll be staying just one night in Albuquerque and be coming in front the east.
Any info is greatly appreciated, and the trip will be in the first or second week of July. If you have any ideas on stuff to do or places to eat, please feel free to share that as well, but please keep in mind that we'll only be there a day, perhaps two at the most. Thanks guys! Cody |

Here's the places that Priceline.com shows for Albuquerque:
Downtown, Midtown, Uptown, East, West, & North. The East, Uptown, Midtown, and Downtown all hug around the New MExicgo State Fairground. The West is SE of Indian Petroglyph State Park. And North runs along I25 directly north of Midtown. Which places have bad crime rates? I'm not looking to stay in a $200 per night hotel, but something nice and where I don't have to worry about my car getting broken into!! Thanks :)

ABQ is a patchwork of good and bad :) If you give us some addresses of potential hotels, we might be better able to help. Downtown / Old Town has good and bad, but the location is close to some of the touristy bits you might like to see on your short visit here :)

Ditto on the abq patchwork. The uptown (Indian School and Louisiana) area is as good as any for consistency. There are decent places on Menaul just EAST of I25 also. Central ave. is very spotty for lodging but has some good restaurants near the university.
