| Sintra | Sintra to Cascais Posted: Sun May 28, 2006 10:47 PM UTC
We're going to Lisbon in August. One Sunday, we plan to take a train to Sintra and then the beach. How can we get from Sintra to Guincho/Cascais beach without a car? Should we take a taxi, train or bus and how much will this cost? Lastly, we would also like to the beach where it has lots of seafood restaurants.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
why on a Sunday?? Every beach will be overcrowded! If possible, go during the week! From Sitra train station there is Bus 403 which goes to Praia do Guincho and on to Cascais. See: www.scotturb.com . Costs around 3 Euros. Trip is 1 hour. Taxi must be negociated and costs more. At Guincho beach there are several seafood restaurants, which are all expensive and very crowded on Sundays. Alternative: Take either bus 441 or the tram ( see: http://www.cm-sintra.pt/Artigo.aspx?ID=3202) from Sintra to Praia das Macas, which also has a lot of seafood restaurants, which are affordable, except "Buzio" and "Oceano". Again: Do not go on a Sunday!!! Enjoy your stay!

Hello,
If you are based in Sintra and want a beach then I would avoid Cascais on a Sunday and get the bus Number 441 to Praia Grande or Priaia Das Macas from Sintra Bus station. It should take about 30 mins. Priaia Grande is my favourite with lots of golden sand, seafood restaurants and frequesnted by local families and surfers. It is the safest on the coastline. Cascais has not got a great beach and is always overcrowded. Enjoy. Spacehopper
